Resumen extractivo: |
B razil's large-scale privatisation programme in the 1990s presents the image of an economy in transition from state domination to one in which market forces prevail. In addition, we shall review the transformation of state enterprises from being a mainly positive influence on the Brazilian economy to becoming increasing dysfunctional. This will be followed by a brief overview of the extent of the privatisation process of the 1990s, and the resulting change of the role of the state in the country's economy, that is, from being a direct participant to being mainly a regulatory agent. |
