Abstract: Society has recognized the role of the family in social cohesion and personal happiness, however, this function has been affected by the violence, and the weakness of the State and laws to claim that contribution. In this way, this paper presents a critical reflection about the current situation of the family, and violence in it is weave, as a consequence of social, economic and cultural context in the country; and is based on several studies conducted by public and private institutions that attend topics about gender, domestic and social violence, defining also the responsibility of the State in front of this phenomenon.
Translated abstract: La sociedad ha reconocido el papel de la familia en la cohesión social y en la felicidad personal, sin embargo, esta función se ha visto afectada por la violencia, y por la debilidad del Estado para reivindicar dicha contribución. En este sentido, este artículo presenta una reflexión crítica sobre la situación actual de la familia, así como la violencia que en ella se entreteje, producto del contexto social, económico y cultural que vive el país; y se fundamenta en diversos estudios realizados por instituciones públicas y privadas sobre género, violencia familiar y social, definiendo también la responsabilidad del Estado frente a este fenómeno.
