| Resumen: | Evolution of the professional profile of the people in charge of the hospital patients' libraries in Spain through the specialized bibliography. Some characteristics have been identified pointing how is their profile actually, and how it should be. They are usually volunteers with no specific training, but when the aim is to of-fer a service of good quality and to achieve the recognition by the civil service, the hospital and also the users, a professional with specific training is required. In the beginning, the ones in charge had to have a profile according to a public library librarian: regarding the collection management and the dealing with the user. Nowadays their tasks are closer to the medical libraries' librarians, especially after the Patient's Right to Information Act. |

| Resumen traducido: | Evolución histórica del perfil profesional de los responsables de las bibliotecas para pacientes en España a partir de la consulta de la bibliografía especializada. Se han identificado algunas características en relación con estos responsables que apuntan a cómo debería ser y cómo es en realidad este perfil: normalmente son voluntarios y personal sin formación pero se reclaman profesionales especializados si se pretende ofrecer un servicio de calidad y tener el reconocimiento tanto de la administración pública y del hospital como de los mismos usuarios. Inicialmente es-te responsable debía tener un perfil de bibliotecario de biblioteca pública en lo que a gestión de la colección y al trato con los pacientes se refiere. En la actualidad se le han asignado tareas que lo aproximan al profesional de la biblioteca médica sobre todo a partir de la aprobación de la ley sobre el derecho a la información de los pacientes. |
